President Museveni’s Speech on Western Influence and Social Issues in Uganda

Since Western societies do not appreciate politeness, there is a problem with the Westerners. They cannot understand politeness or the fact that someone may be keeping quiet but is not happy. You need to tell them directly if there is an issue. If you do not check their history or culture and just assume your way is right, they will remain quiet and not respond.

Given that Western societies do not appreciate politeness, let me take this opportunity to warn our people publicly about wrong practices promoted by some outsiders. One of them is what they call oral sex. The mouth is for eating, not for sex. We know where sex belongs, and we have been in this body for long, but we do not talk about it. People are doing it, and that is their business. Let us leave them alone and focus on things like electricity and roads. However, since they insist on the topic, I have to say that this is not sex; it is eating. The mouth is for eating, not for sex. I want to advise our children to forget about this.

As for pleasure, sustainable, and healthy sex, some of the traditional styles are very pleasurable and healthy. However, the mouth is not engineered for that purpose, except kissing. People can contract gonorrhea of the mouth and throat due to so-called oral sex, not to mention worms. I am told that someone can contract worms if they go to the wrong address for sex. I was wondering if Hepatitis E can also be contracted through that route. The minister of gender and youth should campaign against these practices imported from outside and educate the youth about the healthy lifestyles that are upheld in our cultures.

We reject the notion that someone can be homosexual by choice. That is what Western people are saying, that sexual orientation is a matter of choice, and that a man can choose to love another man. Imagine that! My original argument was that people are born homosexual, but I have been told by important people that this is not scientifically proven, and that sexual orientation is a matter of choice. Therefore, my original thesis has been disproved, and homosexuals have lost the argument in Uganda. They should rehabilitate themselves, and society should assist them to do so.

I thank you.
